10 Month Old Baby: Developmental Milestones

A 10 month old baby will keep you on your toes in the next few months. Lets take a view at your baby different developmental milestones.

Physical Development

How much should a 10-month-old weigh? The boy should weigh an average of 16 to 24  pounds and girls should weigh from 14 to 23 pounds.

What should the height of a 10-month-old be? The height of a 10-month-old  boy should have the height of 27 to 30 inches and girls should be 26 to 29 inches.

How much should their head size be? The boys and girls head should be 16 to 18 inches.

What is the respiratory rate of a 10-month-old?  The respiratory rate of a boy and girl should be from 25 to 40 breaths per minute.

What is the heart rate of a 10-month-old? The baby’s heart rate is usually 80 to 120 beats per minute.

What Should Your Baby Be Doing At 10 Months?

Motor Development

The baby now can crawl around with ease.  At 10 months old, he knows how to sit up.  He is starting to pull himself from sitting to standing posture. During this stage he is able to stand up for a short amount of time.

Communicative Development

Soon you may notice some words or gestures you actually understand, as well as other forms of communication, such as pointing and grunting.  The babbling baby is working his way up to learning new words. 

The baby now will start laughing if he finds something funny. During this stage, the baby points at objects he may want, wave bye to others, and clap when amused.

Cognitive And Behavioral Development

The baby brains keeps developing significantly. He is able to identify familiar places and objects.  Separation anxiety continues to increase and becomes clingier. 

The baby wants to be held at all times and starts to cry when placed down.  During 10 month old babies will begin to repeat back words they hear.  The baby starts to imitate sounds and copy every single gesture.

Sensory Development

The baby at 10 months have sharper vision and eye coordination has enhanced.  He is able to grasp things and point at object he may want. He is able to hear things from a distance and new sounds might begin to scare him.

What Feeding Schedule Should A 10-Month-Old Baby Have?

What to feed a 10-month-old

At this age, most 10 month old can sleep through the night without any feeding. The baby now should have the minimum of two teeth.  By now, your baby eats solid or semi-solid foods. 

The baby will have about two to three meals in a day.  It’s also common to give the baby snacks between meals. The baby now can eat banana slices, oatmeal, apples, pears, and much more for breakfast.

How Much Milk Should A 10-Month-Old Drink?

The baby should consume at least 500-600 ml of formula milk. At 10 month old the baby can begin to sip on water when needed.  Stick with formula milk do not give him regular cow milk.

What Is Sleep Schedule For A 10-Month-Old Be?

At 10 month old, majority of babies sleep around 12 hours a night and take about two naps daily. The baby might wake up through out the night due to sleep regression and separation anxiety kicking in.
