Headaches during pregnancy is one of the most commonly complaints and symptoms of women. 

Almost every women experience headaches through out their pregnancy.  Due to hormonal changes in your body during pregnancy your more susceptible to getting more headaches.

During pregnancy the women's body goes through a lot of changes. The body experiences a flood of hormones and an increase in blood volume. The hormone changes to the body is one of the main cause of headaches during pregnancy.

There are many causes to headaches during pregnancy. Here are of the most frequent causes of headaches:

  • Dehydration
  • Stress
  • Low blood sugar
  • Lack of sleep
  • Not enough protein intake
  • Food allergy-sensitivity
  • Dietary insufficiency
  • Not resting

Headaches During Early Pregnancy

During the first trimester headaches are very common.  All the hormonal changes during pregnancy and increase of estrogen levels trigger headaches. 

If you have severe morning sickness or vomiting it can lead to dehydration causing a migraine or headache.

How To Get Rid of A Headache While Pregnant?

There are many things you can do to get rid of a headache while pregnant.

  1. Place a cool cloth to your forehead.
  2. Make sure to stay hydrated with fluids.
  3. Eat protein rich meals. Have 5 small meals a day.
  4. Make sure you have plenty of rest.
  5. Have someone rub your neck, shoulder, and foot.
  6. Take a warm bath with Epsom salt.
  7. Take time to relax.
  8. Make sure to rest and get your eight hours of sleep. 

What Medicine Can You Take For A Headache While Pregnant?

Before taking any medication during pregnancy make sure to consult your doctor.  The safest painkiller you can take is Tylenol (Acetaminophen). 

Tips To Prevent Headaches When Pregnant

Keep track of your headaches to determine why you’re getting them.

  • Break down your meals to 5 small meals per day.
  • Get plenty of rest your recommended 8 hours of sleep.
  • Make sure to get reasonable exercise.
